Connie Crosby founded Crosby Group in January 2008 to help organizations and individuals visualize and start their social networking and knowledge management projects. She is an expert in social networking, communication and information organization. Connie has acted as a leader in the Canadian legal and library industries, blogging, writing and speaking to lawyers and librarians, and has connections with social media innovators around the world. Her experience with online communities extends back more than 20 years, before the Internet. She is known for participating in a range of communities of interest and cross-pollinating ideas between groups.
Connie is an instructor with the Professional Learning Centre at the Faculty of Information Studies at the University of Toronto, teaching continuing education courses on social networking tools. She is also a teacher with the Special Libraries Association Click University.
A prolific writer, Connie is a founding member of the co-operative law and technology blog Slaw.ca and also contributes to the international blog law.librarians. She writes “The Tao of Law Librarianship”, a column about librarianship and technology for LLRX.com, an “ezine” with extensive world-wide readership.
Prior to creating Crosby Group, she was a prominent law librarian, with nineteen years of law firm experience including library manager in a major Toronto law firm. Extremely active in the law library community, she has served as President of the Toronto Association of Law Libraries and on the Executive Board of the Canadian Association of Law Libraries.
Connie has brought her communication, organization and community-building skills to conference organization, most recently as co-chair the international conference Northeast Regional Law Libraries Meeting 2007: Libraries Without Borders 2 and organizer of Podcamp Toronto 2008 for the podcasting and social media community.
Connie is frequently asked to speak on subjects such as blogging, wikis, podcasting, Web 2.0, social media, social networking tools, knowledge management, and change management.
